Destroyers

This is a cropped portion of an aerial photo taken of USS Intrepid (CV-11) at Pearl Harbor on March 12, 1944. Intrepid is seen at the upper right in the dry-dock and the Fletcher class destroyer on the left is USS Porterfield (DD-682) wearing camouflage 31/7D. Porterfield appears to be repainting the camouflage.

USS Porterfield (DD-682) on March 12, 1944 in Pearl Harbor. Porterfield is in the process of painting/repainting her camouflage and has no deck pattern. The other ships appear to be USS Twining (DD-540) in 31/21D and USS Boyd (DD-544) remaining in Measure 21. The inset shows an enlargement of the hull number, which slightly resembles 642, but USS Hale (DD-642) was between Kwajalein and Guadalcanal on March 12.
