Drawing

This is the design drawing for Measure 31/20L for the Ailanthus class of net laying ships (AN-38 to AN-77), dated August 29, 1944. This design used three greens vertically, probably haze green (5-HG), oean green (5-OG) and navy green (5-NG) in a mirrored mottled pattern both port and starboard.

Each pattern from Design 20L had been created by overlaying a master pattern of greens, brown and black over the outline of the particular class of ship. See the Master pattern for 20L. Thus each class ship 20L drawing used a slightly different part of the Master pattern and had a unique final design.

See AN-38 silhouette in color.
